Coach Gregg Hoss - 14 Black

Gregg (Coach Hoss) is in his first year with EMV and is already thrilled with what he has seen. He is very excited to be a part of the EMV family. He will be the Head Coach of the 14 Black team for the 2019-2020 season. Gregg teaches secondary Mathematics and will be the Head Volleyball Coach at Sunset HS next year, where he hopes to make an immediate impact.
Coach Hoss has been playing volleyball at a competitive level for almost 30 years and has been coaching for over 15 years. He attended the University of Notre Dame, where he was the starting defensive specialist for 3 years, as well as seeing some time as a Setter and Outside Hitter. Since graduating, he has been playing both indoor and outdoor tournaments at the A/AA level with multiple teams and partners. During this time, the teams he played on have won multiple tournaments, had several top 10 finishes at USAV Nationals, and he has received All-Tournament awards as a setter and as an outside hitter.
Coach Hoss has coached teams from 12u-17u and has experience training athletes of all ages and experience at all positions. He was the lead clinician at 900 Volleyball, where he was in charge of running multiple weekly skills clinics for setters, outsides and opposites, middles, and ds/liberos. He has worked and been a lead trainer at multiple camps and clinics.
Coach Hoss has 2 boys, Dalton (10) and Bodi(9). His wife, Ranee, is also an accomplished volleyball player and coach. She went to Grapevine High School, then played Outside Hitter for the University of North Texas and Texas Wesleyan.
“My number one priority is to put or advance every player I train on the path to becoming the best volleyball player they can be.” He believes that in order to become the best volleyball player you can be, you must have a solid grasp of the fundamentals and be able to consistently execute near perfect form and technique. His training methods reflect this belief.
